Alumni

The School of Gandhian Thought and Development Studies has produced an illustrious network of alumni who have gone on to make significant contributions across various sectors and institutions.

One of the most renowned alumni is the current head of the Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies at Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan. This prestigious center is dedicated to preserving and promoting Gandhian literature, philosophy, and values. Having an SGTDS alumnus at its helm underscores the school’s academic rigor in Gandhian studies.

Closer to home, SGTDS alumni have risen to leadership positions within Mahatma Gandhi University itself. Several former students now head the university’s School of Social Sciences, a testament to their multidisciplinary expertise in fields like political science, economics, sociology, and public administration.

Beyond these examples, SGTDS graduates can be found making impacts across India and globally. They serve as faculty at other premier institutions, researchers at think tanks, policy advisors to government bodies, leaders of non-profits and grassroots movements, and social entrepreneurs driving sustainable development initiatives.

What unites this diverse array of alumni is their commitment to Gandhian values of non-violence, peaceful conflict resolution, human rights, and upliftment of all sections of society. Drawing from their strong theoretical foundations combined with field experience, they work towards constructive social change in myriad ways.

The school takes immense pride in the achievements of its alumni, who serve as living examples of the transformative power of integrating Gandhian philosophy with modern development praxis. Their paths continue to inspire current and future batches of students aspiring to become change-makers themselves.
