At SGTDS, students can opt either MA (Gandhian Studies) or MA (Development Studies).

M.A. Gandhian Studies

MA (Gandhian Studies) is the School’s flagship programme aimed at disseminating knowledge and conducting research into critical and emerging fields of Gandhian philosophy. The curriculum offers courses on fundamental understanding of various theoretical perspectives in the social sciences, core courses on Gandhian studies as well as research methodology and academic writing, including quantitative techniques. The program lasts for 4 semesters with 80-88 credits.

M.A. Development Studies

MA (Development Studies) is a unique programme offered by the school focusing on various dimensions of social and economic developmental issues. This program offers courses with an applied perspective in the fields of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Indian Economics, Rural Development, Gender and Development.

Research Methodology, Academic Writing and Quantitative Techniques are also core to the curriculum. The MA (Development Studies) is considered equivalent to the MA (Economics) from Mahatma Gandhi University. The program lasts for 4 semesters with 80-88 credits.
